Manor · Rapla County
Valtu Waldau
Under the von Tiesenhausens, a long, magnificent classical main house rose here in the 1820s. It was burned in 1905 and its ruins were later pulled down — only two dome-roofed dwellings survive. Here is how it might look today.

Good to know With its six-column portico and domed pavilions it was counted among the finest works of Estonian classicism before it burned in 1905. Bricks from the manor’s brickworks built much of the town of Rapla. The Puraviku windmill’s weathervane reads 1815, about a decade older than the main house.
