Kuusiku was recorded in 1467, when it belonged to the Wrangells, and a vassal castle probably stood here in the Middle Ages. The Hastfers acquired it in the early 1700s and built a Baroque wooden house in the last quarter of the century; in the 1790s a nail workshop opened on the estate. The Lilienfelds added Classicist and Neo-Gothic details, and in 1924 the State Agricultural Experiment Station moved in.
