Järvakandi Jerwakant
The von Staals built a grand main house in the 1780s, and in the 1820s Otto von Taube reshaped it into one of Estonia’s finest high-classical manors. Three long avenues ran straight to its eight-column portico. The house burned in 1905 and fell into ruin after land reform.

Good to know The pediment bore the Latin motto “Saxa te loquuntur”: let the stones speak of you. The estate’s network of straight avenues is the grandest in Estonia. The estate glassworks, founded in 1879, grew into today’s Järvakandi borough.
