Alu Allo
Otto von Lilienfeld, owner of neighboring Sikeldi, bought Alu in 1858 and tore down the old buildings with their medieval cellars. In their place, between 1862 and 1875, rose a massive Gothic Revival castle with a five-story corner tower and a crenellated roofline. After years as a school and a farm-machinery depot, it passed to the Estonian Defense League.

Good to know Architect Paul Alisch started the building and it was finished to Friedrich Modi’s design, 13 years in all. The most striking outbuilding is a Gothic Revival granary. A park with a pond surrounds the house.
