Purdi Noistfer
Purdi’s medieval forerunner was the Order manor of Ojataguse, burned by Russian troops in 1560. After the Livonian War the Burt family laid out a new manor center on the present site, and the estate took its Estonian name from them. Carl Gustav von Baranoff bought Purdi in 1759 and in the 1760s–1770s built the Baroque house that still stands. Its central part probably dates from a 17th-century stone building.

Good to know The German name Noistfer comes from an old Estonian name for the area. The Burts’ 17th-century stone manor complex was probably destroyed in the Great Northern War. Local folklore holds many ghost stories about Purdi.
