Nabala was first recorded in 1510, when it belonged to the Cistercian St. Michael’s Convent in Tallinn; at that time it was probably a fortified stone house or small castle. Later Nabala belonged to the Estonian Knighthood, and the income of Nabala and its outlying estate Pääbo went mainly to the knighthood’s council of land councillors. The surviving one-story stone main house was probably built in the 1800s.
