Vana-Antsla Schloss Anzen
First mentioned in 1405, the manor grew from a fortified dwelling. The single-story main house was built in stages from the 18th to the 20th century, and its walls may contain parts of the older fortified house. It belonged to the von Uexkülls, later the von Löwensterns and von Ungern-Sternbergs.

Good to know The medieval castle probably covered a whole 130 × 200 m peninsula between the Antsla River and Vastsekivi Brook. It became “Old” Antsla when Uue-Antsla was split off in the late 1600s; a 3 km avenue links them. A round two-storey gardener’s house survives.
