Erastvere Errestfer
Erastvere is among the oldest settled places around Põlva: in 1452 Johann Soye bought it from the Bishop of Tartu, and from 1657 to 1919 the Ungern-Sternbergs held it. After expropriation the house became an old-age home and later a care home. The old mansion was torn down in 1972, yet the lindens and oaks of the lakeside park still recall the manor’s past.

Good to know Estonia’s tallest linden, about 35 m, grows in the manor park. In 2005 a new chapel was consecrated at the family cemetery, funded by the last baron’s son. The 1702 Battle of Erastfer in the Great Northern War was fought about 3 km away.
