Iigaste Igast
Iigaste is first recorded in 1581, when it was also called Hörlingshof after its owner Reinhold Hörling. Owners came and went until the Võru merchant Friedrich Eberhard Schultz bought it in 1848. The Schultzes lived here until 1939, and soon after they left the house was destroyed in the war.

Good to know King Gustavus Adolphus of Sweden granted the estate to the Kythausen family. The Schultzes were merchants rather than nobility; their descendants have visited Iigaste village days. The lawyer Karl August Baars was born here in 1875, the son of a manor farmhand.
