Kõltsu Wellenhof
Kõltsu was not a knight’s manor but a summer estate near Laulasmaa in Keila parish. Baroness Benedicte von Uexküll laid it out in the late 1800s, and in 1891 the main house was finished under a roof of shingles brought from Finland. Legend says Benedicte planted roses on the beach as well, and from there they spread to other shores nearby. From 1909 until the resettlement of the Baltic Germans it belonged to the Mohrenschildts.

Good to know As it was not a knight’s manor, it was not expropriated in 1919. A bell called summer guests up from the beach to lunch; on calm days it could be heard as far as Kersalu. After the war the house held a Young Pioneer camp.
