Hatu was founded in the 1600s by Gabriel Larsson Silfwerarm, whose father had been granted part of Hatu village by Charles IX in 1613. In 1716 the estate passed to the Mohrenschildts and later to the Ramm family, who held it until 1919. The Neo-Gothic main house was built under Clas Gustav Reinhold von Ramm in 1853–1864. It survives almost unchanged, along with a colonnaded stable and carriage house, a smithy and a granary.
