Vasta Waschel
Vasta was recorded in 1398, when it passed to Maydell, a vassal of the Danish king. From 1797 to 1885 it belonged to the Knorring family, whose descendants in Finland keep in touch with the manor to this day. The two-story Late Baroque house was built around 1800 on a high base floor holding the kitchen and servants’ rooms. F. R. Kreutzwald held his wedding in the steward’s house in 1833.

Good to know In 1874 Vasta was merged with Unukse manor. Under Samson-Himmelstjerna the estate promoted pedigree cattle breeding. In 2008 the Knorrings’ descendants gave the manor their family coat of arms.
