Aakre was first recorded in 1557; its earlier name, Kawrimoise, comes from the Kawer family, who held it in the 1400s and 1500s. In 1627 Gustav II Adolf granted Aakre, together with Rõngu, to Admiral Clas Larsson Fleming. It later became a crown estate until Catherine II gave it to the Rehbinders. From 1853 to 1919 it belonged to the Rohland family. The long one-story stone house had a broad, low pediment with an arched window at the center of its facade, and a wooden veranda.
From 1920 the house held a school, and until 2022 the Aakre kindergarten and primary school.
