In 1781 the scandalous English duchess Elizabeth Chudleigh bought the estate, founded a distillery and gave the manor her own name. Under the von Wilckens a classical manor house rose on the clifftop in the 1820s, with cannon on artificial bastions in front. The Second World War swept it away in 1944, leaving one lonely tower above the sea.

Today Only the tower of the main house survives, later used as a water tower, along with a few stone outbuildings on the cliff.
