Järve mõisat on esmamainitud 1497. aastal. 16.–18. sajandil kuulus see Payküllidele ja hiljem Dehnidele; viimane omanik oli Georg von Dehn. 16. sajandi algul ehitati mõis välja vasallilinnusena: umbes 13 × 18 meetri suurusel arvatavasti kolmekorruselisel hoonel oli keldris laoruum, teisel korrusel eluruumid ja kolmandal kaitsekorrus. 18. ja 19. sajandil pikendati keskaegset hoonet mõlemast otsast pikaks kahekorruseliseks härrastemajaks.

Täna Varemetest puhastati 1960. aastatel välja keskaegne linnuseosa, kuid alustatud restaureerimine jäi 1970. aastatel katuse ehitamise juures pooleli. Nüüd kaitseb müüre ajutine lamekatus. Hilisematest otstest on alles vähesed varemed.

Järve manor is first recorded in 1497. From the 1500s to the 1700s it belonged to the Paykülls and later to the Dehns; the last owner was Georg von Dehn. In the early 1500s the manor was built as a vassal castle: a probably three-story building of about 13 by 18 meters, with storerooms in the cellar, living quarters on the second floor and a defensive level on the third. In the 1700s and 1800s the medieval building was extended at both ends into a long two-story manor house.

Today In the 1960s the medieval castle core was cleared from the ruins, but the restoration stalled in the 1970s while the roof was being built. A temporary flat roof now protects the walls. Little but ruins remains of the later end sections.
