Voka Fockenhof
In 1781 the scandalous English duchess Elizabeth Chudleigh bought the estate, founded a distillery and gave the manor her own name. Under the von Wilckens a classical manor house rose on the clifftop in the 1820s, with cannon on artificial bastions in front. The Second World War swept it away in 1944, leaving one lonely tower above the sea.

Good to know The Estonian name Voka comes from Narva councilman Johann Fock. Grand Duke Nicholas and Charlotte stopped here in 1817; the letters C. N. W. were carved into a shore boulder to mark the visit. Voka Elementary School occupied the main house from 1925 to 1944.
