Järve manor is first recorded in 1497. From the 1500s to the 1700s it belonged to the Paykülls and later to the Dehns; the last owner was Georg von Dehn. In the early 1500s the manor was built as a vassal castle: a probably three-story building of about 13 by 18 meters, with storerooms in the cellar, living quarters on the second floor and a defensive level on the third. In the 1700s and 1800s the medieval building was extended at both ends into a long two-story manor house.
In the 1960s the medieval castle core was cleared from the ruins, but the restoration stalled in the 1970s while the roof was being built. A temporary flat roof now protects the walls. Little but ruins remains of the later end sections.
