Vana-Nursi was split off from Rõuge manor in 1688. In the 1700s it belonged to the Freymanns and from 1861 to the Herzbergs, who in the 1860s built a grand Neo-Renaissance house. Partly one and partly two stories tall, its facades are adorned with numerous pilasters and triangular pediments. From 1892 until 1919 the manor belonged to Oskar von Wahl. It had many outbuildings, among them a brewhouse.
After World War II a Soviet missile base used the manor complex. The house survived, at least outwardly, but many outbuildings were destroyed. Today the complex stands empty and unused.

Good to know
In Soviet times a missile base occupied the complex, and many new buildings went up around it.
To keep the military site secret, the road was realigned so that the manor drive is hard to find.
