Mooste Moisekatz
In the late 1500s King Stefan Batory of Poland granted these lands to Wilhelm Sturtz, a judge from Võnnu. The von Nolckens took over in 1810, and Eduard von Nolcken turned the estate into one of southern Estonia’s grandest ensembles, with a main house finished in 1909 to August Reinberg’s design. Along the lakeshore stand fieldstone stables and a distillery trimmed in patterned brick, and a bell tower styled like a medieval keep.

Good to know The outbuildings are counted among Estonia’s most elaborate historicist complexes. A bell tower styled like a medieval keep stands at a corner of the boundary wall. The gates were lined up to frame planned views across the estate.
