Kassari, also called Aunaku, was split off from Vaemla manor in the early 1700s. After the Great Northern War it was returned to the Wachtmeister heir Arend Diedrich von der Pahlen, who sold it in 1730 to David Johan Gaertner. In 1758 Heinrich Caspar von Stackelberg bought the manor, and his descendants kept Kassari until 1919. The main house was a one-story timber building of the 1700s; most of the outbuildings stood around the forecourt in front of it.
