Haeska was first recorded in 1560, when it belonged to Haapsalu Cathedral. It was later held by the Kursells and the Wrangells, and its last owner before land reform was Hans von Grünewaldt. The main house was finished in 1805. In 1981 it was renovated, and the Matsalu nature reserve set up a small exhibit there on the migration of geese.
