Heimtali Heimthal
In the Middle Ages Heimtali belonged to the Order castle at Karksi, and from 1744 to the von Sivers family. In the 1850s Peter Reinhold von Sivers designed a low main house himself, giving its center and galleries flat roofs, a rarity in Estonia. His love of novelty also left a cheese house with four round corner towers and a sixteen-sided round stable, making Heimtali one of Estonia’s most unusual manors.

Good to know The 1858 cheese house has four round corner towers and was long mistaken for a distillery. The “round” stable actually has sixteen sides around a courtyard. In the 1800s the estate had more than 40 outbuildings.
