Tahkuranna oli Pärnu lahe idakaldal asuv riigimõis, mis toimis ilmselt juba 16. sajandi algul sadamat kaitsva tugipunktina ja keskajal Pärnu lahe nn hädasadamana. 1560. aastal mainiti seda Pärnu komtuurkonna ordumõisana. Liivi sõjas põletati mõis maha. 1627. aastal läänistas Gustav II Adolf selle koos kaheksa Pärnumaa mõisaga krahv Franz Bernhard von Thurn-Valsassinale. Tänane maja seisab arvatavasti kindlustatud keskaegse peahoone vundamentidel; selle all on talalaega täiskelder ja laskepilusid meenutavad aknad.

Täna Peahoone on katuse all ja heas korras; mõisasüdames on tegutsenud külalistemaja.

Tahkuranna was a crown estate on the eastern shore of Pärnu Bay. It probably served as a strongpoint guarding the harbor as early as the early 1500s, and in the Middle Ages as an emergency harbor on the bay. In 1560 it was recorded as an Order manor of the Pärnu commandery. It was burned in the Livonian War. In 1627 Gustav II Adolf granted it, together with eight other Pärnu County manors, to Count Franz Bernhard von Thurn-Valsassina. Today’s house probably stands on the foundations of a fortified medieval building, over a full cellar with a heavy beamed ceiling and windows like arrow slits.

Today The house is roofed and in good repair; the manor center has served as guest lodging.

History

First recorded recorded as an Order manor in 1560
