Sargvere eraldati iseseisva mõisana 1772. aastal naabruses asuvast Koigi mõisast. Mõis vahetas palju omanikke ja kuulus enne 1919. aasta võõrandamist Emmeline von Stackelbergile. Kahekorruseline barokne peahoone ehitati 18. sajandi teisel poolel ja see on üks ilusamaid ja väljapeetumaid barokseid mõisahooneid Eestis. Säilinud on ka hulk interjööre, sealhulgas mitme esindusruumi rokokoostiilis stukklaed.

Täna Pärast võõrandamist tegutses peahoones aastakümneid kool; praegu asub seal raamatukogu. Säilinud on suur park, kuid kõrvalhoonetest vaid üksikud.

Sargvere became a manor in its own right in 1772, when it was split off from neighboring Koigi. It changed hands many times and before the 1919 expropriation belonged to Emmeline von Stackelberg. The two-story Baroque house was built in the second half of the 1700s and is one of the finest and most refined Baroque manor houses in Estonia. Many interiors survive, including Rococo stucco ceilings in several of the state rooms.

Today For decades after expropriation the house held a school; today it houses a library. The large park survives, but only a few outbuildings.
